Areas we cover

Where our customers travel from

One workshop, at Cardiff Marine Village on Penarth Road. People drive past closer garages to reach it, so here is what that trip actually involves from each part of Cardiff and the Vale.

One workshop

We are in one place, and we do not come to you

Which sounds like a limitation, so here is the part that matters.

Collection and recovery were both withdrawn in August 2026. Every hour a technician spent driving was an hour off the ramp, and it slowed down every other car in the building. So the car comes to us, there is parking on site, and the saving goes into the work rather than the mileage.

The question that leaves is a practical one. If you have just handed over your only car, how do you get home? For a good part of the Vale the answer is better here than at a garage with a car park full of courtesy cars.

Grangetown and Cogan stations are both about a mile away.

They run to Dingle Road, Penarth, Eastbrook, Dinas Powys and Barry. Drop the car in the morning, walk to the station, be home before the kettle has boiled. Cardiff Central is a little further for anyone heading into town or north.

By where you are

The trip, from each direction

Grouped by how you actually get here rather than alphabetically, because the journey is the part that differs.

On the doorstep

Grangetown, Canton, Riverside, Cardiff Bay and Llandaff

Marine Village sits off Penarth Road, so for a good part of south and west Cardiff we are the nearest independent rather than the one you drive to. Grangetown is close enough that plenty of customers walk back and pick the car up on the way home from work.

If you are in Canton, Riverside or round the Bay, this is a short run in and there is parking on site, so you are not circling for a space before you have even handed the keys over.

What we do

The Vale

Penarth, Dinas Powys, Sully and Barry

This is the group the location suits best, and it is worth spelling out why. Grangetown and Cogan stations are both about a mile from the workshop, and they sit on the same line as Dingle Road, Penarth, Eastbrook, Dinas Powys and Barry.

So you can drop the car with us in the morning, walk to the station and be home on the train without arranging a lift from anybody. That matters here because we do not collect vehicles and we are straight about it: the alternative most garages offer is a courtesy car you have to insure and chase, and we would rather tell you how to get home than pretend.

Sully and Barry are a longer run down the A4055, but the same train works for the trip back.

Find us and get in touch

North Cardiff

Cyncoed, Lisvane, Llanishen, Whitchurch, Rhiwbina and Radyr

A cross-city run, and we will not pretend otherwise. There are garages closer to you than this one, and for a tyre or a bulb you should use them.

What people come across the city for is the other kind of job: a fault nobody has got to the bottom of, a service that has to land on the manufacturer's online record, a car still inside its warranty where the parts and the schedule have to be right and documented. Most north Cardiff customers leave the car with us for the day rather than wait, and we ring before anything is done to it.

The marques we go deepest on

Further out

Cowbridge, Bridgend and the western Vale

A proper drive, so let us be honest about when it is worth making. If you want an MOT, book it somewhere closer to home. Nobody should spend forty minutes in a car to save nothing on a test with a legal maximum price.

The customers who do travel from out this way come for a specific reason: a marque the local garage will not touch, a diagnostic job that has already been guessed at twice, or a service history that has to be written to the manufacturer's system rather than stamped in a book. If that is the job, the drive buys you a technician who spent ten years inside Mercedes-Benz Cardiff and five at BMW Sytner.

Genuine, OEM and aftermarket

Why people travel

What you get for the drive

Nineteen years in the trade, ten of them as a technician inside Mercedes-Benz Cardiff and five at BMW Sytner. The diagnostic equipment and the marque schedules came with that, which is the difference between reading a fault code and knowing what usually causes it on that engine.

An MOT tester in house, so a test and the work it finds happen in the same building rather than across two bookings and two weeks. We price the repair before we touch it, and the retest is free when we do the work.

Service records written to the manufacturer's online system on the marques that use one, so the history lives in the car's own file rather than only as a stamp in a book. That is what a dealer looks at for warranty work and what a buyer's inspection looks at when you sell.

Questions, answered

Do you collect my car or offer a courtesy car?

No to both, and that is a deliberate choice rather than a gap. Collection took a technician off the ramp for an hour each way, which slowed down every other car in the workshop. Every vehicle comes to us at Cardiff Marine Village, and there is parking on site.

How do I get home after I drop the car off?

Grangetown and Cogan stations are both about a mile from the workshop and run to Dingle Road, Penarth, Eastbrook, Dinas Powys and Barry, so most of the Vale can get home on the train without a lift. Cardiff Central is a little further for anyone heading into town or north on the valley lines.

Can I wait while the work is done?

For a shorter job, yes, and plenty of people do. For anything longer we would rather you left it with us and we rang you, because an accurate answer is worth more than a fast one.

I am outside all of these places. Will you still take the car?

Ring the workshop and ask. Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan is where most of our customers come from, not a boundary we police. People travel further than this for the marque work, and we would rather have the conversation than have you assume.

Do you charge more if I am travelling from further away?

No. You are charged for the work on your car. Where you parked last night has nothing to do with it.

Tell us where you are

Ring the workshop with your registration and what the car is doing. We will tell you what it needs, what it costs and when we can take it.

Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Drop the car at Cardiff Marine Village, Penarth Road.
