Audi specialist in Cardiff
Audi shares a lot of its engineering with the wider VW group, which means the faults are well known to anyone who sees enough of them. We do.
What a general garage cannot do
The difference between a garage that will take your Audi and a garage that knows it is mostly software, schedules and having seen the same fault a hundred times.
- Marque-level diagnostics across every module, with coding and adaptation
- Fixed and flexible service regimes read from the car and set correctly
- S tronic and DSG transmission oil and filter services
- Quattro drivetrain, haldex servicing and differential work
- Timing belt and chain work on the common EA888 and TDI engines
- Electronic parking brake retraction and calibration
- Genuine and OEM parts, warranty preserved
- DPF, EGR and emissions work on the diesels
What we actually see go wrong on Audi
Written from what comes through the door, not copied off a forum. If yours is doing one of these, you are not imagining it.
EA888 2.0 TFSI
High oil consumption
The earlier versions of this engine are known for piston ring and oil separator issues. Worth diagnosing properly, because the cause changes the bill enormously.
2.0 TFSI and 1.8 TFSI
Timing chain tensioner failure
The earlier tensioner design lets go, and on these engines that is catastrophic. There is an updated part, and if your car still has the old one it is worth knowing.
A4, A5 and A6 TDI
Blocked DPF and repeat regeneration warnings
Very often a differential pressure sensor or an EGR valve rather than the filter itself. We check the cause before cleaning anything.
S tronic and DSG
Jerky low speed shifting
Usually an overdue oil and filter service, sometimes a mechatronic unit. The service is inexpensive, the mechatronic is not, which is a good reason not to skip the service.
A3, A4, Q5
Water in the footwell
Blocked plenum and sunroof drains again. It is the single most common cause of mystery electrical faults on these cars.
Service schedules
Audi runs two regimes. Fixed servicing is annual or every 9,000 miles and suits shorter urban journeys. Flexible, sometimes called LongLife, stretches up to two years or 19,000 miles and suits longer steady mileage, but only with the correct long life oil. Which one your car is set to matters, and plenty of cars are on the wrong one for how they are actually driven. We check it and tell you.
The dealer question
You get the same schedule, the same diagnostic software and the choice of genuine parts. What you do not get is the showroom overhead built into the labour rate.
Servicing at a qualified independent does not void a manufacturer warranty, provided the manufacturer schedule is followed and the parts used match the required quality. We do both, and we record it. How we handle parts.
Audi, questions answered
Should my Audi be on fixed or flexible servicing?
If you do short journeys and low mileage, fixed. If you do long steady miles, flexible can suit. The wrong setting is a common cause of premature wear, so it is worth checking which yours is on.
Does my S tronic gearbox need an oil change?
The wet clutch versions do, commonly around every 40,000 miles. It is one of the best value preventative jobs on the car.
Can you carry out warranty-safe servicing?
Yes. Manufacturer schedule, matching-quality parts, recorded properly. That is what keeps a warranty intact.
Do you work on RS and S models?
Ring the workshop with the model and the job. We will tell you honestly whether it is one for us.
The other specialisms
Not on the list? Every make and model is welcome here.
