MOT testing in Cardiff

What is included
- Full class 4 MOT to the current DVSA inspection standard

What it costs
The government sets a legal maximum for a class 4 MOT and no garage anywhere can charge above it, so the test itself is never where a garage makes its money. Book yours alongside a full or major service and it costs less again. If the test finds work, we price the repair before we touch it and the retest is free when we do that work.
How long it takes
Around 45 minutes to an hour for a standard class 4 test. You are welcome to wait in the workshop, or leave the car with us and we will ring you when it is done.
Which makes
Every make and model within class 4, which covers almost every car and small van on the road. German cars are where we go deepest, but the MOT bay is open to anything.

MOT testing, questions answered
When is my MOT due?
A car needs its first MOT three years after it was registered, then once a year after that. Send us the registration and we will tell you the exact date, or check it free on the DVSA service.
Can I drive without a valid MOT?
Only to a test you have already booked, or to a garage for repairs. If yours has run out, book the slot first and drive straight here.
How early can I get it tested?
Up to one calendar month minus a day before it expires, and you keep your original renewal date. Testing early costs you nothing and gives you time to sort any work.
Do you do the repairs as well?
Yes, in the same workshop. We show you what failed, tell you what it costs, and nothing gets done until you say so. The retest is free when we carry out the repair.
Will an MOT at an independent garage affect my warranty?
No. An MOT is a legal roadworthiness test and has no bearing on a manufacturer warranty wherever you have it done.
Can I wait while the MOT is done?
Yes. A standard class 4 test takes around 45 minutes to an hour and you are welcome to wait in the workshop. If it needs work, we will tell you the price before we start.
